The City of Bedford Heights is now accepting applications for School Crossing Guards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Major Duties:
A school guard uses automated or hand-held signs, controls traffic and directs children safely crossing streets in route to and from schools.
Major Responsibilities:
- Regular and predictable attendance.
- Maintain the trust, faith, and confidence of members of the Department, school administrators, children and parents in the community.
- The ability to exercise rational decision making in the event of an emergency (e.g., child becomes injured or ill).
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- At least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or experience and/or relevant education.
- Any equivalent combination of training or education and progressively responsible experience which demonstrates the knowledge and experience necessary to perform the work.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment;
- Ability to work under various weather conditions
- Ability to understand, carry-out and deliver verbal and written directions pertaining to a job assignment.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with children and the general public.
